Analytical serviceReceptor Pharmacology & Selectivity
Receptor pharmacology examines what happens after a molecule engages its target: whether the receptor is activated or inhibited, how potent the ligand is, how large the response is relative to a reference, and how selective the ligand is across defined receptor systems. Target engagement does not, by itself, demonstrate receptor activation; functional measurement does.
Illustrative figure — the shape of the measurement, not a result.
EC50, IC50, response efficacy and receptor-selectivity measurements.

- Response efficacy relative to a defined reference
- Agonist, antagonist or partial-agonist behaviour
- Selectivity across the receptor systems examined
Reporting outputs
- Concentration-response curves and fitted parameters
- Efficacy and potency tables
- Receptor-selectivity summaries naming the systems tested
- Assay conditions and controls documented
Fees for this service
Fees are per sample in pounds sterling, excluding VAT, and apply to the methods and scope described on the corresponding service page. Where no fee is listed, the investigation is scoped and quoted after a pre-submission enquiry. Multi-sample series and recurring programmes are priced on request.
| Receptor pharmacology & selectivity | Fee |
|---|---|
| EC50 / IC50 — one receptor system, one mode, ten-point concentration-response with reference ligand | Request a quotation |
| Receptor selectivity — additional receptor systems | Request a quotation |
Describe the sample and the question.
A pre-submission enquiry establishes analytical suitability, experimental requirements, sample handling and reporting expectations before any material is sent.
