Binding Affinity & Kinetics

Binding investigation quantifies how a ligand associates with a defined target: the equilibrium affinity of the interaction, the rates at which the complex forms and dissociates, and the comparative binding relationships between related molecules. Binding affinity is distinct from functional potency — a molecule may bind without producing a biological response.

Potential analytical deliverables

Kd, kon, koff or assay-defined interaction parameters where methodology supports them.

Methodology classes

  • Surface-based binding methodologies for kinetic interaction measurement
  • Solution-phase equilibrium affinity analysis
  • Ligand competition assays
  • Comparative binding studies across related ligands or target variants

Applicable sample categories

  • Peptide ligands and analogues
  • Purified receptor or target proteins
  • Antibodies and binding proteins
  • Paired ligand–target sets for comparative studies

Measurable parameters

  • Equilibrium dissociation constant (Kd)
  • Association and dissociation rate constants (kon, koff)
  • Assay-defined interaction parameters where kinetics are not resolvable
  • Comparative binding relationships

Reporting outputs

Fees

Fees for this service

Fees are per sample in pounds sterling, excluding VAT, and apply to the methods and scope described on the corresponding service page. Where no fee is listed, the investigation is scoped and quoted after a pre-submission enquiry. Multi-sample series and recurring programmes are priced on request.

Enquiry route

Describe the sample and the question.

A pre-submission enquiry establishes analytical suitability, experimental requirements, sample handling and reporting expectations before any material is sent.
